Have I ever felt encompassed or trapped? Most certainly I have. Not only from the sins and temptations round about about me. Sometimes I feel trapped in my choices, my situation, my day to day life. I become overwhelmed with the mundane tasks of everyday life. I look around at the laundry, the clutter, the dishes, and the gathering dust with disdain. Is this my career? I am trapped in this mind set, in this feeling of mediocrity, of no promotion, and I am encompassed about. "My heart groaneth."
Now here is the clincher, "nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted. “My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep. “He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh” (2 Nephi 4:18–21).
As I look into the faces of my children, my husband, myself, I am filled with love. As I give of my time and whatever talents I possess I am filled with love. That includes the mundane tasks of my life. As I fulfill my responsibilities, with a remembrance of why, it helps me feel less trapped. Helps me overcome the "temptations which do so easily beset me."
There are thing that I am responsible for. That is life. There are things that I love doing and there are things that I hate doing. That is life. There are things that help me become a greater individual and things that set me back. That is life. There is purpose in my being, incredible potential, and great power to overcome. That is eternity. That is God's love. That is the Atonement. And I know I can put my trust in him to lead me through my wilderness.
